‘Shiney’ (a nickname-name earned in Australia at her favourite side job of ‘shining’ boats) has a healthy obsession with all things ocean. Originally from Philadelphia, her work reflects her moments of inspiration while living in California and Australia. Shiney takes a realistic approach to her subject matter, utilising her own photographs and other photographers work as references. With no formal training, she attributes patience and perseverance to her paintings (some taking over 100 hours) stemming from the love she feels and sees in her subject matter. She is often towing her acrylics and canvas to paint outdoors on the beaches and sidewalks of small town coffee shops. Currently in Solana Beach, California, Shiney maintains a cheery attitude of painting within the community, welcoming chit-chat of passerby’s as she goes.
