My recent work takes a unique look at memory, nostalgia and beauty in the mundane.
Each set of marks are meant to leave an impression of the urban environment—a living, breathing, ever-changing organism. My inspiration comes from the many layers of colors, lines and texture left by history and gone mostly unnoticed as the muted background of the city…My work celebrates those layers in the space between realism and abstraction.
I maintain a purposeful approach to keeping fresh and loose in creation—resulting in pieces that feel simultaneously sketch-like yet complete. The subject matter of each piece may vary, but it always comes back to the intense beauty in my everyday surroundings that hold the greatest meaning. The work is inviting the viewer to stop, pause for a moment…and reflect. I want people to remember, reminisce and wonder.
